WellnessDay: Fabillan, Nathan Gabriel Tatlonghari

Basketball isn’t just a sport. Basketball is something that has changed my life, back then during the pandemic, I was greatly struggling with my physical state being 109 kilograms and also struggling to socialize with people because of the insecurities that came with being my weight. Since I started playing basketball, I started seeing improvements in the qualities that I lacked. Playing basketball not only enhances physical fitness but also has a significant beneficial effect on general wellness and well-being.

The game’s fast-paced style necessitates respiratory endurance, strength, and agility, which promotes a comprehensive approach to physical fitness. Basketball players continuously move, jump, and run across the court, which helps to improve cardiovascular health when they play the sport regularly.
The sport also has positive effects on mental well-being. The strategic aspects of basketball require mental focus, decision-making, and teamwork, enhancing cognitive skills
and promoting a sharper mind. Moreover, the camaraderie and social connections forged on the basketball court contribute to emotional well-being, fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork.
