“Great school culture is not an accident. It happens when we recognize that we all depend on each other, and then work together to create supportive, caring conditions for everyone—students, teachers, support staff, parents, everyone!” – David Geurin (Edutopia)
We are about to embark on another amazing journey of learning and achievement with the beginning of the Academic Year 2021-2022 this week. While we will still be doing the process of teaching, learning, and achieving remotely, we have never wavered in our resolve to deliver one that is both effective and world-class through the Virtual Online Learning and Teaching (V.O.L.T.) Program. Through the V.O.L.T., we all made great strides last academic year, especially in terms of academics. With our strong collaborative spirit, we were able to facilitate learning and achievement despite challenging situations and limitations which resulted in an increase in the school’s overall General Weighted Average (G.W.A.) and an all-time high of 73% of students qualifying for honors— achievements that would have been relatively difficult to attain in normal conditions. Thanks to a great school culture that is founded on genuine love, care, and support for each other, we inspired each other indeed to achieve despite COVID-19!
As we begin a new academic year, let us take to heart “Big Ideas” from last year such as rigor, grit, and growth mindset as these truly made it possible for all of us to go through all the adversities we had faced. When we embrace RIGOR, we acknowledge that we need to continually learn new knowledge and skills in order to grow. Unless we want to be stagnant, we need to challenge ourselves to engage in new endeavors that will allow us to explore the world of ideas and experiences that will lead us to discover the potentials we have within. When we do this consistently, we will be led to realize that “we can learn almost anything” with a lot of effort and belief in ourselves, thus we cultivate a GROWTH MINDSET which helps us to develop confidence in ourselves and in our capabilities. Exposing ourselves to challenges also helps us to grow in GRIT as these teach us the will to persevere especially when we encounter difficulties in what we do. As we decide to continue pursuing our goals despite obstacles, we give ourselves the opportunity to develop passion which is a very important ingredient for success. With “Nurturing the 5Cs through Academic Rigor with Grit and a Growth Mindset” as our theme for this year, we hope to duplicate our successes last year by inspiring ourselves to aim for academic and values excellence by continuing to cultivate a school culture that highlights synergy and a burning desire to become the best that we can be despite daunting challenges. Let us keep the passion for excellence and the spirit of collaboration alive in us Valiant Knights. WE ARE STRONG WHEN WE ARE ONE! Mabuhay and Quant Je Puis!
